I did not have a camera at the time I started to build the layout but here are some pics of how the layout was progressing from about mid way on.

The above photo shows the original archway on the left and a plaster casting made from it on the right (in light grey).  The archway on the right just needs to be weathered and it will be close to the original.  This method is a lot cheaper than buying ready made products if you need a lot of them.

The above passenger train is about to arrive at Schönblick station while the lower passenger train is making the long climb after passing through the industrial section on it's way to Friedrichshöhe station. Also the diesel locomotive is just coming out of the tunnel and proceeding to Friedrichshöhe station.

The scenery is just getting started.

The famous crocodile stopping at the freight shed for a quick rest before hauling the torpedo loaded with molten steel to it's final destination.
